LaLiga matches to be aired on MTV India for next 3 seasons

Madrid, Jul 5 (EFE).- Spain’s LaLiga announced on Monday that Viacom18 Media’s youth channel MTV India has acquired broadcasting rights in the Indian subcontinent over the next three seasons starting from 2021-2022 campaign.

Matches with English and Indian commentary will be live streamed on Voot and Jio platforms, in addition to MTV, according to LaLiga’s statement.

“We are excited to partner with Viacom18 (MTV India) and further bolster the LaLiga fandom to an ever-growing football fan base in India,” said Oscar Mayo, LaLiga executive director.

“Having set one of the highest standards of football globally and India gaining tremendous momentum, we are confident that we will reach and engage with the youthful audience that MTV as a destination appeals to,” he added.

The Spanish soccer league brought to an end a successful stage with Facebook that previously had the streaming rights of its games in the region, taking a further step toward its expansion strategy with its partnership with MTV, the leading provider of entertainment and content for young people in India.

“At MTV we have always known that football is widely accepted by young Indians and that LaLiga is a cultural phenomenon,” MTV director Anshul Ailawadi said.

Meanwhile, LaLiga has dealt with Dream11 and BKT, two local sponsors with whom it works to promote Spanish soccer in the region.EFE
