Chocolate-lovers flock to Miami for festival

Miami, Jan 15 (EFE).- One of the exotic New World delicacies Spaniards brought back to Europe in the 16th century is the star of this weekend’s 15th Festival of Chocolate in Miami.

Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, founded in 1938, is hosting the two-day event that got under way Saturday with a program of tastings, entertainment, activities, classes and demonstrations.

Visitors can also learn about the cultivation of cacao on a specially created patch of the 83-acre (33.6-hectare) grounds.

While the Chocolate Lab offers workshops on Cooking with Cacao and Truffle Making along with sessions of Organic Cacao & Chocolate Tasting.

There is a Pairing Parlor where people can combine cupcakes with fine wines chosen by sommeliers.

And this weekend only, Fairchild is selling limited edition chocolate-scented orchids and cacao trees. EFE ar/dr
