Varane leaves Real Madrid for Manchester United

Sports Desk, Jul 27 (EFE).- French defender Raphael Varane will join Manchester United after a decade at Real Madrid, the two teams announced Tuesday.

The parties did not disclose the amount of the transfer fee to be paid by the Premier League side.

“Manchester United is delighted to announce the club has reached agreement with Real Madrid for the transfer of Raphaël Varane, subject to a medical and to player terms being finalized,” the Red Devils said in a statement.

The Frenchman won 18 trophies during his spell with the LaLiga side, including four Champions League titles, four FIFA Club World Cups, three UEFA Super Cups, three LaLiga crowns, one Copa del Rey and three Spanish Super Cups.

“Our club thanks him for the professionalism and exemplary behavior he displayed during the 10 seasons in which he defended our jersey,” Real Madrid said of Varane on the team website.

The 28-year-old was part of the French national team that won the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. EFE jjl/ta/dr
