Pink Palace Museum to Celebrate “National Dance Day” with a Family Event

MEMPHIS, TN (LPL) — El Museo Pink Palace está organizando un gran evento familiar que se llevará a cabo el sábado, 28 de julio, para celebrar el “Día Nacional del Baile”. La cita es para todos los amantes de la danza, sin importar la edad que se tenga, de manera que todos puedan bailar y disfrutar de diferentes actos artísticos, entre otras cosas, de 3:30 p.m. a 6 p.m., en el mezanine (entrepiso) del museo.

Entre los grupos de danza que se estarán presentando están Karsilama Tribal Belly Dance y Mystic River Dancers, por mencionar sólo algunos.

Además de las actuaciones especiales sobre el “Día Nacional del Baile”, el Pink Palace estará promoviendo su nueva película en 3D, “America’s Musical Journey”, cuyo estreno está pautado para el 11 de agosto en el CTI 3D Giant Theatre del museo. Dicha película destaca los diferentes géneros de la música americana, así como los distintos tipos de baile.

“La danza es una parte muy importante de la película, y pensamos que el ‘Día Nacional del Baile’ sería perfecto para promover esta película que además presenta un segmento filmado aquí en Memphis”, dijo Bill Walsh, gerente de Marketing y Relaciones Públicas en Pink Palace Family of Museums.

El “Día Nacional del Baile” fue creado por Nigel Lythgoe, el cocreador del programa “So You Think You Can Dance” y copresidente de Dizzy Feet Foundation. Se celebra el último sábado de julio en los Estados Unidos. Fue fundado y reconocido oficialmente en el 2010, cuando la congresista estadounidense Eleanor Holmes Norton presentó una resolución del “Día Nacional del Baile” para promover la educación dancística y la aptitud física. El evento alienta a los estadounidenses a considerar el baile como una manera divertida y positiva de mantener una buena salud y combatir la obesidad.

MEMPHIS, TN (LPL) — The Pink Palace Museum is hosting a family event that will be held on Saturday, July 28, to celebrate “National Dance Day.” Everyone is invited to this party where you can dance while watching special onstage performances that will take place from 3:30 p.m. 6 p.m. on the mezzanine of the museum.

Among the dance groups that will be performing are Karsilama Tribal Belly Dance and Mystic River Dancers, to mention just a few.

Additionally, the Pink Palace will be promoting its new 3D movie, “America’s Musical Journey,” to premiere on August 11 at the museum’s CTI 3D Giant Theater. This film highlights the different genres of American music, as well as the different types of dance.

“Dancing is such a big part of the movie, we thought ‘National Dance Day’ would be a nice tie-in to the movie which features a segment filmed in Memphis,” said Bill Walsh, Marketing & Public Relations Manager at the Pink Palace Family of Museums.

“National Dance Day” was created by Nigel Lythgoe, the co-creator of “So You Think You Can Dance” and co-president of the Dizzy Feet Foundation. It takes place in the United States on the last Saturday in July. It was founded and officially recognized in 2010 when American congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton introduced a “National Dance Day” resolution to promote dance education and physical fitness. The event encourages Americans to embrace dance as a fun and positive way to maintain good health and combat obesity.
