Tu tarea es un proyecto de arte. Tienes toda la semana para hacerlo, pero el tiempo vuela cuando estás postergando un proyecto de arte. Para cuando te diste cuenta, ya es domingo por la noche, estás sentado en tu escritorio y agitando los pinceles como loco; nos ha pasado a todos.

La semana pasada, me tocó hacer un proyecto de arte para la clase de inglés. Aunque nuestro enfoque era más en los símbolos de una novela, aún así quería presentar algo decente enfrente de toda la clase. Me llevó casi cuatro horas, pero finalmente pude crear un paisaje respetable.

Durante el proceso creativo, me di cuenta cuán difícil es ser artista. Olvídate de pintar para un proyecto de clase -ser artista como oficio es un proceso intenso. Artistas, escritores, músicos y otras profesiones creativas, todas tienen en común la necesidad de períodos largos y aislados para trabajar. Estos bloques de creatividad son importantes para cualquiera que trate de diseñar un proyecto, como arte, música, literatura, o incluso proyectos de ciencia, prepararse para un examen, o el entrenamiento deportivo.

Crear arte puede ser tremendamente difícil, aún si es tu profesión. He encontrado que tener mis propios procesos creativos me ayuda realmente a apreciar y disfrutar del arte.

You’ve got an art project due. You have a whole week, but time flies when you’re putting off an art project. Next thing you know, it’s Sunday night and you’re sitting at your desk swishing paintbrushes like crazy. We’ve all been there.

Last week, I had an art project due for my English class. Though our focus was on representing symbols from a novel, I still wanted to present something decent looking in front of the class. It took almost four hours, but I finally was able to put together a decent-looking landscape painting.

During the creative process, I realized how difficult it is to be an artist. Forget trying to make a painting for a class project—making art for a living is an intense process. Artists, writers, musicians, and other creative professions all have in common the need for extended, isolated periods of time to work. These creative blocks are necessary for anyone trying to design a project in any shape or form, such as art, music, literature, or even science projects, preparing for tests, or sports training.

Creating art can be tremendously difficult, even if it’s something you do for a living. I’ve found that engaging in my own creative processes really help me appreciate and enjoy art.
