En este punto el año pasado, el condado de Shelby tuvo 17 muertes por tráfico. Hasta ahora en 2018, ha habido 22.

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) – Several law enforcement agencies, including the Memphis Police Department, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office and the Tennessee Highway Patrol will be involved in monitoring roads and reducing accidents.
For 24 hours, starting at 9 a.m. today Friday, the streets and highways of Shelby County will be flooded with law enforcement looking for all traffic violators. They call it “Shelby County Crackdown”
Authorities said they will focus much of their efforts on three areas: Austin Peay Highway, Hacks Cross and Shelby Drive, and I-55.
“It’s going to be a zero tolerance operation,” said the captain of the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Jimmie Johnson.
At this point last year, Shelby County had 17 traffic deaths. So far in 2018, there have been 22.
The main causes of accidents that cause deaths are speeding and distracted driving.
“We hope to have zero deaths this weekend or any weekend,” Johnson said.
Some local law enforcement agencies will receive overtime to participate. Other officers will come from neighboring counties.
